Coldhubs
ColdHubs, is a “plug and play” modular, solar-powered walk-in cold room, for 24/7 off-grid storage and preservation of perishable foods
The company builds and operates walk-in cold rooms to help farmers and vendors store and preserve produce, tackling the problem of food wastage plaguing the industry. Currently operating as a pay-as-you-store model, farmers pay a daily flat fee of US$0.50 per crate of food stored. This is drastically lower than traditional cold storage's operational cost of US$37.50 per day. Each cold room is able to hold ~3 tons of food and is currently serving 3.517 farmers, retailers and wholesalers with 24 coolers. In 2019, ColdHubs saved 20,400 tons of food from spoilage.
